NCC acquires Danish house producer with sales of SEK 60 million

NCC acquires Danish house producer with sales of SEK 60 million NCC Construction Denmark is acquiring Holmbo-huse Orla Christensen A/S, a Danish manufacturer of single-family houses. The acquisition will strengthen NCC's position in the Danish market for residential construction. Holmbo-huse has 17 employees and annual sales of DKK 50 million (approx. SEK 60 million). The acquisition is expected to have a marginal effect on NCC Construction Denmark's operating profit for 2004, followed by a favorable impact during 2005. Holmbo-huse is a family business formed in 1961 by Orla Christensen. The sale is the result of a generation shift within the family. The change of ownership becomes effective today, April 29. Although NCC has not previously built or sold single-family houses in Jutland, it has a track record of extensive housing production in Sjælland and is one of the leading housing-development companies in Denmark. Holmbo-huse is the third Danish manufacturer of single-family houses to be acquired by NCC. Bülow & Nielsen, based in northern Sjælland, was acquired in 1999 and O.C. Huset was purchased in 2001. "The acquisition will enable us to capitalize on coordination potential with our existing operations and thus to offer products that sharpen NCC's competitiveness in Jutland. The transaction is also a step towards the achievement of the NCC Group's overall objective of building less expensive housing," says Steffan Martin Baungaard, manager of NCC's production of single-family houses in Denmark.
