NCC acquires site and development right in Copenhagen NCC has acquired a site and a development right at Kröyers Plads in Copenhagen from state-owned Danish real estate company Freja Ejendomme A/S for DKK 100 million (approx. SEK 120 million). NCC's aim is that the acquisition will enable the realization of an innovative residential and office environment drawn by EEA, well-known Dutch architect Erick van Egeraat's architectural firm in Rotterdam. Definitive decisions regarding the timing and implementation of the project will be taken when Copenhagen City Council has approved the local development plan for the area. Assuming that the project is approved, NCC plans to commence construction during 2005 and complete the assignment in 2006. Construction will be conducted on a proprietary basis. NCC estimates that completing the project will cost about DKK 600 million (approx. SEK 730 million), including DKK 100 million for the purchase of the site and development right. The project comprises 18,300 square meters of floor space. Kröyers Plads will harmonize with the innovative architecture that NCC has participated in creating along the newly opened harbor front in Copenhagen. The properties built by NCC in the harbor city include construction of the Danish Trade Union Confederation's new head office, conversion of the packinghouse at Langelinie into apartments and construction of a ferry terminal for DFDS and the "Copper Tower" building for the law firm, Plesner. In addition, work is currently under way on the conversion of two enormous grain silos into apartments.
