NCC acquires Statkraft Anlegg AS of Norway and establishes strong international underground unit NCC Norge AS has entered into an agreement with Statkraft SF regarding the purchase of all the shares in Statkraft Anlegg AS, which had sales of approximately SEK 435 million in 1998 with 250 employees. Statkraft Anlegg, which includes considerable international operations, offers such services as state-of-the-art TBM (tunnel boring machine) technology. "The acquisition of Statkraft Anlegg AS is in line with our long-term strategy, in which specialization and internationalization are major features," says Lars Wuopio, Executive Vice President of NCC AB. "We intend to establish an international underground operation in which all of the NCC Group's capacity and expertise in the area will be integrated. This transaction will enable us to develop our specialist know-how in the field into a strong competitive tool in the Nordic region and other markets." "Statkraft Anlegg AS's leading-edge expertise in the construction of power plants has been accumulated over many decades. This applies to hydropower, infrastructure, tunneling and underground projects in Norway and on an international basis. NCC's determined focus on such operations was a decisive factor in the decision to sell Statkraft Anlegg AS, since it ensures that the company's skills will be further developed and utilized in the future," says Björn Blaker, chairman of Statkraft Anlegg AS. Statkraft has been responsible for hydropower construction operations within Statkraft SF since the beginning of the 20th century. The operations have been conducted in a separate company since 1993.
