NCC and Impregilo to cooperate in Russia NCC has signed a cooperation agreement with Impregilo, an Italian construction company based in Milan. The cooperation involves major infrastructural projects within the Russian Federation and the Baltic States. "This is a further step in NCC´s focus on international construction markets," says Jan Sjöqvist, President and Chief Executive Officer of NCC. "The combined expertise represented by Impregilo and NCC is considerable and our joint resources are more than sufficient to undertake major projects." The current cooperation between the two companies should shortly lead to important works in the sector of large infrastructures for undergrounds/subways in the city of St Petersburg, where negotiations are at an advanced stage with Metrostoy for the repair of a stretch of the line flooded after settlement. While an initial order has been received for geotechnical surveys, negotiations are continuing for the main work which consists of twin tunnels to be mechanically excavated. NCC and Impregilo, Italy´s largest construction company, are already cooperating together with the German construction company Strabag in the INS Alliance, which focuses on construction markets in Southeast Asia. NCC, Impregilo and Strabag are also members of the construction alliance currently involved in final negotiations regarding a major highway project in Poland worth a total of nearly SEK 25 billion. The cooperation agreement was signed by NCC´s President Jan Sjöqvist and Impregilo´s Chief Executive Officer Giuseppe Gatto, among others.
