NCC Construction Sweden, Eastern Region, has been appointed contractor for three of the National Road Administration’s operating areas, namely Norrköping, Nyköping and Eksjö. The contracts have a combined value of approximately SEK 177 million and also include extension options.

The contracts pertain to both summer and winter maintenance and will extend for three years, with an option to extend the Norrköping and Eksjö contracts for an additional four years. For Nyköping, there is an option to extend the contract for five years. NCC’s Eastern Region has already been assigned responsibility for several other operating areas within the National Road Administration, namely Örebro, Vingåker, Flen, Finspång and Mjölby. “At present, we account for approximately 7,000 kilometers of road on behalf of the National Road Administration. Having several operating areas that are located close to each other facilitates coordination across local borders, in terms of the use of employees and machinery,” says NCC Business Manager Håkan Ericsson. The Eksjö operating area consists of 1,011 kilometers of road, located in the highlands of Småland. The Nyköping operating area consists of 1,070 kilometers of road, mostly pertaining to the E4 highway. The Norrköping operating area, which is somewhat smaller, comprises approximately 700 kilometers and includes the E4 highway between the D-county border and Linköping. In this area, the E4 highway between Norrköping and Linköping and the hills in Kolmården are particularly demanding and require extra resources. It is estimated that a total of about 15 NCC employees will be engaged in the projects.
