NCC Boende is acquiring the former engineering site at Garnisonen in Linköping from the Vasallen real estate company. The intention is to build 1,000 new homes over a ten-year period.

The Södra Ekkällan area at Garnisonen consists of approximately 40 hectares of land and 28,000 square meters of commercial premises. NCC’s plan is to build about 1,000 homes in the area, in stages over a ten-year period. The intended construction and sales rate corresponds to 100 homes per year. The overall concept for the future appearance of the area entails the creation of high-quality, comfortable and secure residential environments based on a mixed development with various forms of conveyance. “Our foremost objective when developing this area will be to offer our customers attractively priced housing characterized by high quality and a secure external housing environment,” says Fredrik Arpe, Regional Manager at NCC Boende. NCC will take over Södra Ekkällan on April 1, 2006 and hopes to initiate production within a year, since a survey plan for the area has already been approved. As a result, the first homes could be ready for occupancy as early as 2007. Vasallen has previously developed Garnisonen, the site of the former I4 and A1 regiments. The site was sold to Acta Kapitalförvaltning AB in 2004. The sale of Södra Ekkällan, which is conditional upon the approval of the Vasallen Board of Directors on December 16, means that Vasallen is terminating its assignment in Linköping.
