NCC receives SEK 325 million order from Elkem AS for rebuild of furnace halls
NCC receives SEK 325 million order from Elkem AS for rebuild of furnace halls NCC's Norwegian company NCC Anlegg and Elkem ASA today signed a contract worth SEK 325 million (NOK 291 million) regarding the rebuild and development of two furnace halls at Elkem Aluminium Mosjoen, Norway. NCC's work will be carried out in cooperation with NCC Construction and NCC Contracting, Southern Norrland Region, of Sweden. NCC will be responsible for coordination of activities related to actual construction, as well as coordination of all environmental, safety and health aspects of the project. The assignment, which will be conducted on a general contract basis, consists primarily of the rebuild and development of two furnace halls. The rebuild of the furnace halls comprises the basement floor, operating floors and roofs/ceilings. The assignment includes delivery and assembly of new anode-furnace superstructures, pipelines for furnace gas and compressed air networks. It also includes demolition and disposal work, rebuilding activities, construction of new secondary facilities and certain outdoor work involving pipelines, cables and roads. Elkem ASA's Shared Service, Engineering & Projects division has been commissioned by Elkem Aluminium Mosjoen to be responsible for project, contract and construction management with respect to implementation of the project. Work will proceed until August 2003 and approximately 100 employees will be engaged in the project.
