NCC receives SEK 570 million order to level and plan industrial site for Snøhvit project NCC Norway and Statoil have signed a letter of intent regarding the leveling and planning of an industrial site as part of the Snøhvit gas project at Melkeøya, near Hammerfest in Finnmark, Norway. The order is worth approximately SEK 570 million (approximately NOK 510 million). The Snøhvit project is one of the largest land-based civil engineering projects currently under way in Scandinavia. The new industrial site, part of which is currently under water, will have a storage capacity of approximately 2.5 million cubic meters. This is an extremely extensive assignment that, in addition to leveling and planning work, includes dredging and the construction of quays, docks and water tunnels. A precondition for starting the project is that the Norwegian Parliament approve expansion of Snøhvit, which will probably occur at the beginning of March. The intention is to initiate civil engineering work immediately after the Norwegian Parliament makes its decision. Planning of the site is expected to take a year, following which installation of the process plant and four gas storage tanks can commence.
