NCC Construction Sweden has secured an assignment to refurbish and construct new premises in the Plåten block in central Sundbyberg. The customer is Alecta, which is planning a new property block featuring housing, offices, shopping, hotels and restaurants. The order is worth about SEK 550 million and will be registered not later than in the fourth quarter of 2011. The project will be conducted as a coordinated contract with Alecta.

The premises will total about 36,000 square meters gross area, of which about 18,000 will be newly constructed. The block Plåten, also known under the name Signalfabriken, currently consists of vacant industrial and office premises.

“Since Alecta has chosen to engage our services at an early stage, NCC’s full range of expertise will be of use to the project. We will construct a full block with various types of buildings,” says Claes Magnusson, Business Unit Manager, NCC Construction Sweden Stockholm/Mälardalen region.

The project has commenced and is scheduled for completion during autumn 2013. The project will be climate declared.

The project is being conducted as a coordinated contract, also known as partnering at NCC. This is a structured form of collaboration whereby the client, consultants and contractor jointly work on a construction assignment.

Partnering collaborations are conducted in two phases. The first phase involves building design, planning and commencing construction. The second phase, which includes all contract work, will begin not later than December 31, 2011.

For the aforementioned reasons, the project will be registered in full not later than the fourth quarter of 2011 when the parties intend to enter the second phase.

The project will employ 150 to 200 people.
