NCC secures strategic road service contract in Finland totaling SEK 467 million

NCC Roads in Finland has been awarded three new contracts from the Finnish Road Administration pertaining to the management and maintenance of roads. The total value is approximately SEK 467 million and the assignment is strategically significant for NCC Roads in Finland.

The contract with the Finnish Road Administration comprises the responsibility for management and maintenance of a total of 3,530 kilometers of roads. Of these, 530 kilometers are highways and 3,000 kilometers other roads, of which 1,230 kilometers comprise gravel roads. The total value of the contract is approximately SEK 467 million. “We are very pleased with the new management and maintenance contracts. Road service is a strategically important area for NCC Roads,” says Aapo Hurttia, Road Service and Civil Engineering at NCC Roads Finland. The three new management areas are located in east and southeast Finland. The contract for the Joensuu area extends for five years and includes 1,050 kilometers of road, valued at approximately SEK 110 million. The contract for the Imatra area is valued at approximately SEK 165 million extending for seven years and consisting of 1,150 kilometers of road. The contract in the Lappeenranta area also extends for seven years at a value of approximately SEK 192 million and consists of 1,330 kilometers of road. The assignment for the Finnish Road Administration includes plowing, snow clearing, gritting and minor maintenance work on and along the roads. Also included in the contract is the maintenance of gravel roads, green areas, signposts and the upkeep of lay-bys and customs areas on the border to Russia. The contract will be signed in September and will apply from October 1, 2009.
