NCC sells concrete plants in Sweden for SEK 225 million
NCC sells concrete plants in Sweden for SEK 225 million NCC has sold all of its ready-mixed concrete plants in Sweden to AB Färdig Betong and Betongindustri AB for SEK 225 million. The transaction covers a total of 26 ready-mixed concrete plants divided among two purchasers. NCC's strategy entails concentrating on its profitable core business and focusing on the Nordic market. In accordance with this strategy, ready-mixed concrete plants in the Baltic countries, Finland, Norway, Poland and Russia (St. Petersburg) were sold in 2003. Individual plants in Sweden have also been divested. "Ready-mixed concrete plants are not part of NCC's core business and we also intend to sell the plants we have in Denmark," says Alf Göransson, NCC's President and Chief Executive Officer. The capital gain on the sale of the Swedish ready-mixed concrete plants will be reported in its entirety when the Danish operations are sold. NCC's intention throughout the process has been to treat the Swedish and Danish operations as a single unit. NCC's 26 ready-mixed concrete plants in Sweden generate annual sales of approximately SEK 300 M and deliver 290,000 cubic meters of ready-mixed concrete to construction works throughout the country. The sale is subject to the approval of the Swedish Competition Authority and a final environmental assessment.
