NCC is selling its Polish asphalt, aggregate and paving operations to Austrian-based Strabag. The total sales consideration amounts to SEK 1 050 million for a debt-free company, which will generate a capital gain of approximately SEK 400 million. The transaction is conditional on the approval of the competition authorities concerned.

NCC Roads Poland is part of the NCC Roads business segment, which has operations throughout the entire value chain relating to asphalt, aggregates and paving. The Polish operations, which in 2005 had net sales of approximately SEK 1.1 billion, have about 900 employees and the registered head office is in Warsaw. In 2005, the NCC Roads business segment had net sales of SEK 8.7 billion and 4,200 employees.

NCC Roads Poland has developed through organic growth into a leading player in asphalt, aggregates and paving in Poland. In 2005, the company produced 1.3 million tonnes of asphalt and commanded a market share of approximately 14 percent. The company also has strategic quarries and asphalt and aggregate production facilities. Its main operations are in central and western Poland. Jonas Högberg, who is in charge of NCC Roads in Poland, will continue to work at NCC as Vice President of NCC Roads, assuming responsibility for NCC Roads in Finland and in St. Petersburg.

“The reason we are selling the Polish Roads operations is that we want to focus the operations and future investments of NCC Roads on the Nordic region. By releasing capital from the Polish operations, we can continue to invest in growth in the Nordic market through organic growth and through acquisitions,” says Alf Göransson, Chief Executive Officer of NCC.

The sale of NCC Roads Poland will have a favorable impact on the NCC Group’s earnings, provided the approval of the competition authorities concerned.

Strabag has net sales of 10 billion Euro and 45,000 employees, and is domiciled in Vienna.
