NCC has been awarded a contract by Din Bostad project development company Dristigheten to build 120 apartments in Barkarbystaden, Järfälla, outside Stockholm. The multi-family buildings will be built using the new industrial construction system NCC Komplett. The order value is about SEK 125 million. This order is strategically important for NCC’s focus on industrial production of apartment blocks.

The project comprises four rental apartment blocks and two apartment blocks with tenant-owned apartments. All buildings will have four floors and stucco facades. Apartment sizes range from two to four rooms with a high basic standard including parquet flooring throughout and tiled bathrooms. The buildings will be built using the new industrial construction system NCC Komplett. This means that the various components will be completed in a factory and then assembled on site in weather-protected assembly halls.

Project design will start immediately, with production scheduled to start in the spring of 2007. The first stage will be ready for occupancy in November 2007, and the entire project will be completed by June 2008. The project also includes reconditioning of a historically listed aircraft hangar.

“This is the first time we will produce rental apartments using the new construction system,” says Fredrik Anheim, Head of industrial construction at NCC. “The combination of industrial techniques and appealing design makes NCC Komplett an attractive alternative for property companies considering an investment in rental apartments.”

Plans for the new Barkabystaden area include about 5,000 households and 6,000 workplaces. More information on the new NCC Komplett construction system is available at www.ncc.se/ncckomplett.
