NCC to build expressway in Poland for SEK 150 million

NCC Roads in Poland has been commissioned by the National Road Administration of Poland and the Polish Infrastructure Minister to construct a 10-kilometer section of expressway on Highway 10, east of Szczecin. The contract is worth approximately SEK 150 million and the project will be completed during 2006.

The contract is a feature of the expansion of Highway 10, which connects Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Torun and Warsaw. This particular section will constitute a ringroad around the city of Kobylanka. The project is being financed by the European Union and the government of Poland. “We were awarded this major EU contract in the face of competition from other European road constructors. It is a result of our efforts to generate organic growth in Poland. The contract is confirmation of the fact that NCC’s Polish organization has the capacity and expertise to undertake major road-construction projects in accordance with the EU’s construction standards,” says Jonas Högberg, Head of NCC Roads in Poland. The project comprises 170,000 square meters of paving, 120,000 metric tons of asphalt, 800,000 cubic meters of excavation and filling, two grade-separated junctions, fem viaducts, water and sewage systems, electricity, traffic systems and the planting of 2,500 trees.
