NCC to build Hjulsta Norra interchange for Stockholm bypass project
NCC has secured the assignment to construct the Hjulsta Norra interchange, which is part of the E4 Stockholm Bypass project. The assignment comprises the re-routing of the existing Akalla Link and concrete tunnels with an order value of SEK 608 million.
“It is a challenge to carry out construction on such busy roads and this is the challenge that we are looking forward to taking on. The assignment from the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) is an exciting project that will make a difference for all of the people who drive through here every day,” says Svante Hagman, Business Area Manager for NCC Infrastructure.
The Hjulsta Norra interchange is a contract under the E4 Stockholm Bypass project, the 21-kilometer route that will connect the northern and southern parts of Stockholm County. Apart from a large amount of excavation work, NCC’s assignment will include the construction of two 370-meter concrete tunnels, noise protection, and electricity, water and wastewater installations.
Construction is scheduled to commence in September 2016 and the work to build the interchange is estimated to last approximately five years.
The order will be registered in the second quarter of 2016 in the NCC Infrastructure business area.
