NCC to build new soccer arena at Fornebu for SEK 350 million

NCC Construction AS in Norway has signed a letter of intent with med Fornebu Arena AS regarding the construction of a new football arena. The assignment, which will be conducted in the form of a partnering project, is worth SEK 350 million and the arena is scheduled for completion in time for matches and other events to be held during autumn 2007.

The letter of intent will be replaced by a partnering agreement before work on the project commences in June next year. The work is scheduled for completion in the early autumn 2007. The size of the new arena will be 24,000 square meters and it will have the capacity for 15,000 supporters. A total of 13,000 square meters is intended for sports, 3,500 square meters for media and communication purposes and the remaining 7,500 square meters for business operations. The first phase, which is worth about SEK 257 million pertains to the sporting and media sections. The second phase, for business operations, is valued at approximately SEK 93 million. NCC has developed into the leading builder of sporting arenas in Norway. After having constructed a completely new Bislett stadium in record-breaking time, NCC was also assigned the task of building a new football arena in Fredrikstad. The Fornebu Arena can now be added to this list. NCC will staff the Fornebu project with employees with experience from building the Bislett stadium. The project will be registered among orders during the first quarter of 2006. It entails that all of the parties to a construction project operate on an open-books basis in terms of their costs and offers all of the parties incentives to reduce construction costs and thus to share the gains.
