NCC to build new swim center in Visby
NCC’s subsidiary, Nybergs Entreprenad, is to construct a new and ultramodern swim center in the center of Visby. The project will be carried out in partnering form with the client, Region Gotland, and the order value is approximately SEK 300 million.

The new swim center will be built next to Solbergabadet in the center of Visby, just outside the Town Wall, with traffic and buildings close by. The location entails logistical challenges and places high demands on working with consideration for the surroundings and other activities. Solbergabadet will be retained, but have another not-yet-determined function.
“Building in the center of the city and right next to a world heritage site is special. We are very pleased that Nybergs Entreprenad has been awarded the contract because we have worked with them many times before and have great confidence in the company. The fact that NCC’s experts are involved in building the swim center was a decisive factor in the procurement,” says Ingemar Britts, project manager at Region Gotland.
The new swim center will include a 25-meter pool, a multifunction pool, a small family pool and a deeper diving pool. The swim center will also contain a small relaxation area, a café and locker rooms.
“The planning of this project has been ongoing for a long time and we are more than ready to start working on the construction of this modern swim center for Visby and its surroundings. A local team will be working closely with NCC’s team of swim center experts, who have the expertise required to build with the latest technology in a logistically challenging location,” says Kenneth Nilsson, Head of NCC Infrastructure.
Construction will commence during the autumn and the swim center is scheduled to be completed and ready to open in the third quarter of 2027. The value of the order is approximately SEK 300 million and will be registered in the NCC Infrastructure business area in the third quarter of 2024.
