NCC to build power plant in Gothenburg for SEK 360 million NCC and Demag Delaval Industrial, a company owned by Siemens, have been jointly commissioned by Göteborgs Energi to construct and deliver a cogeneration power plant at Rya Harbor, Hisingen, Gothenburg. NCC's share of the assignment is worth approximately SEK 360 million. In October 2003, Göteborgs Energi and Siemens signed a conditional contract regarding the construction of a new cogeneration power plant of the combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) type at Rya, Hisingen. NCC, in its capacity as Siemens' preferred building contractor, has participated for slightly more than a year in the negotiations concerning the project, in which the construction assignment will be conducted on a turnkey basis. Under the terms of the conditional agreement, Göteborgs Energi was entitled to withdraw from the contract. However, Göteborgs Energi's Board of Directors has now decided to start up the project. The assignment pertains to a cogeneration power plant with three turbine lines, plus the capability to add another line in the future. According to the project schedule, the power plant will be ready for test operations during November 2006. The plant measurements will be 125 x 55 meters with a roof height of 35 meters. The plant's large chimney, which will be 12 meters in diameter and 100 meters high, will be dimensioned to accommodate four lines. Liljewalls Arkitekter AB designed the cogeneration plant. About 15 salaried employees and 75 construction workers from NCC will be engaged in the project. In addition, 400 Siemens employees and a large number of subcontractors and suppliers will be involved.
