NCC has signed an agreement with the Foundation for Student Life (SiO) for the construction of 209 student housing units in Oslo. The project will commence in May and is expected to be completed during the autumn 2024.

The student housing is centrally located along Akerselva river in district Grünerløkka in Oslo and will consist of 209 student accommodations on 7 floors, with shared functions and commercial premises on the ground floor. The total area is approximately 9,100 square meters.

NCC’s assignment also includes the construction of a publicly accessible square in connection to the project as well as green area and a walking path along the Akerselva.

“Together with SiO and other partners, we have worked out a thorough and effective plan for the implementation of this project. We look forward to starting to build this sustainable and future-proof student housing, says Catarina Molén-Runnäs, Head of NCC Building Nordics.

The project has a clear environmental profile with a focus on sustainability and conscious choices of environmentally friendly materials and solutions. The project will, for example, be a pilot project for a emission-free construction site in collaboration with Enova, and a recycling report has been produced to map out how existing building materials can be reused.

The project will commence during May 2022 and is expected to be completed during the autumn of 2024. The assignment is a turnkey-contract and will be registered among orders in the second quarter of 2022 in the NCC Building Nordics business area.
