NCC to build Saltsjöbro Bridge in Södertälje for SEK 183 million NCC has been commissioned by the National Road Administration to build one of Sweden's largest bascule bridges, the Saltsjöbro Bridge, over the Södertälje Canal. The order is worth SEK 183 million. "We're delighted to have received this order," says Göran Svensson, head of NCC's civil engineering operations in Stockholm. "The order underscores the extent of our expertise in the civil engineering sector." Construction of the Saltsjöbro Bridge and the Viksängsleden Bypass is part of the Municipality of Södertälje's and the National Road Administration´s objective of reducing traffic in the town center and to strengthen the link over the Södertälje Canal. In addition to the bascule bridge, the turnkey contract consists of access bridges and roads. Approximately 50 employees will be engaged in production aspects of the contract. Work will commence immediately, initially in the form of project engineering. Landscaping work will begin in September this year and the new bridges and roads are scheduled to be completed in October 2001.
