NCC will build the second phase of the waste-based Amager Bakke energy-production facility in Copenhagen. The assignment is being conducted on behalf of ARC - I/S Amager Ressourcecenter. The order amounts to SEK 276 million and will be registered in the third quarter of 2013.

NCC’s assignment comprises concrete and earthworks for a processing facility for energy production and an administration building, for ARC-employees, which operates the facility.

In January 2013, NCC secured the construction contract for most of the first phase of the Amager Bakke energy-production facililty, which included ramming, the construction of new silos, and land and concrete works. Under the new order, NCC will conduct all earth and concrete works in the construction of Amager Bakke.

Amager Bakke, which is located on Amager in Copenhagen, is a modern energy-producing plant for waste, combined with a resource recycling station, and will be operated using green technology. The facility will replace a current plant, which is 40 years old.

Planning work for the second phase is expected to commence after the summer and concrete works will begin in September.

The first elements of work on the second phase are scheduled to be completed by late October 2014, and the Amager Bakke facility is scheduled to be commissioned by summer 2017.

The project will be registered as an order in the NCC Construction Denmark business area.
