NCC to build section of E6 highway for SEK 107 million NCC has been commissioned by the National Road Administration's Western Region to construct a section of the E6 Highway north of Uddevalla, between Geddeknippeln and Hogstorp. The contract value is SEK 107 million. From a southerly direction, the E6 maintains a completely expressway standard up to Torp, just north of Uddevalla. The order received by NCC involves the construction of a 2.7-km section of expressway and 4 km of local roads between Geddeknippeln and Hogstorp. The project includes the construction of two vehicle checkpoints and two bridges, one of which will be designed for wildlife. In addition, a number of trial stretches will be built based on the use of different types of materials for road superstructures. The purpose of this is to enable future evaluations of the performance of the different superstructures. Work will commence in August and is scheduled for completion in June 2004. "At present, Geddeknippeln is a serious traffic obstacle, particularly for holidaymakers heading for the west coast of Sweden. We are pleased to have been commissioned for a construction assignment that will remove this bottleneck," says Richard Thorpö, Department Manager at NCC Construction Sweden.
