NCC to build sections of City Tunnel in Malmö for SEK 1.5 billion NCC has been commissioned to construct two phases of the City Tunnel in Malmö. The customer is the City Tunnel project within the Swedish Railway Administration and the total order value for the two sections is approximately SEK 1.5 billion. NCC has secured an order to build the new Malmö Central Lower and the Hyllie-Vintrie section. "We successfully tendered for two of three assignments. That's a sign of strength and is proof of the Swedish Railway Administration's confidence in NCC's ability to deliver large and complex civil engineering projects," says Olle Ehrlén, Executive Vice President of NCC Group and President of NCC Construction Sweden. Malmö Central Lower includes a ramp from the railway yard that becomes part of a tunnel section, including a station. It also includes quay structures, a new bridge over the Suell Canal and comprehensive relaying of pipelines. The Hyllie-Vintrie assignment comprises approximately 4 kilometers of terracing for railway, pipeline and road relaying, and concrete work, including the construction of seven bridges, tunnels and drainage system. The contract is worth approximately SEK 300 million, and construction will commence during spring 2005 and be completed during 2007.
