NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned to refurbish and extend the premises of the National Prison and Probation Administration and the Police Authority in Karlstad. The customer is Skandrenting AB and the order is worth approximately SEK 107 million.

The property concerned is the headquarters of the Police Authority in the county of Värmland, which is now further centralizing its activities. In addition to administrative premises, the assignment includes the expansion of 30 new detention spaces on behalf of the National Prison and Probation Administration. NCC has accounted for management of the property since 1999, and the refurbishment project has been planned and developed jointly by NCC, the property owner and the tenants. “We are naturally gratified at being entrusted with this assignment,” says Anders Johansson, NCC’s business manager. “The major challenge is the special environment, which is subject to a range of security regulations. Among other measures, all production staff will be checked against the general register of criminals.” Work will commence in the spring of 2005 and is scheduled for completion in October 2006. A total of approximately 20 employees will be engaged in the project.
