NCC to construct expressway between Enånger and Hudiksvall for SEK 438 million

NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned by the Mid-Sweden Regional Office of the National Swedish Road Administration to extend the E4 expressway between Enånger and Hudiksvall. The contract encompasses the construction of a new four-lane expressway with a contract value totaling SEK 438 million.

The new section of road is eagerly awaited, since it replaces an exceedingly accident-prone section of the road network between Stockholm and Sundsvall.

The contract is worth SEK 438 million. Hudiksvall Municipality will pay a total of SEK 30 million for the cost of the difference between constructing a three-lane and a four-lane expressway. According to the National Road Administration’s calculations of traffic volumes, a standard that exceeds a three-lane expressway is not motivated, but Hudiksvall Municipality believes that is worth financing the cost to upgrade to a four-lane road.

Construction of the expressway, comprising 17 bridges and 25 kilometers of road, is scheduled to commence at the beginning of 2009 and will be completed during the autumn of 2010. A total of about 100 people will be employed in the project.

NCC will be the turnkey contractor for the project. The National Road Administration’s procurement procedure was divided into three sub-contracts, all of which were awarded to NCC.

The assignment will be registered among orders during the fourth quarter of 2007.
