NCC to construct expressway in Poland for SEK 150 million

NCC Roads in Poland has been commissioned by the Polish National Road Administration and the Infrastructure Ministry in Poland to construct a total of ten kilometers of expressway along Highway 7, south of Krakow. The contract is worth approximately SEK 150 million and the project is scheduled for completion in 2008.

The contract will be a part of the expansion of Highway 7, in order to connect Gdansk-Warsaw-Krakow with the tourist region of the Tatra mountains around Zakopane and further south towards Slovakia. The section concerned constitutes an orbital road around the town of Lubia. The project is being financed by the EU and the government of Poland. “We were assigned this strategically important EU contract as a result of our focus on organic growth in Poland. The contract is confirmation of the fact that NCC’s Polish organization has the capacity and expertise required to undertake major road construction projects in accordance with the EU’s construction standards,” says Jonas Högberg, Head of NCC Roads in Poland. The project comprises 170,000 square meters of paving, 80,000 tons of asphalt, landscaping and certain rock excavation, grade-separated junctions, viaducts, water and sewage systems, electricity and traffic systems. NCC Roads is the leading asphalt company in Poland, with annual sales of more than one million tons of asphalt.
