“The new premises for the healthcare center will be a welcome addition as it will enable us to provide more modern healthcare and meet patient needs. The residential care facility will provide an additional 104 places and the proximity to the healthcare center will create a better quality of life for the elderly residents. In cooperation with NCC, and with the well-being of the region’s inhabitants in mind, we can make a place for health and social care in the beautiful district of Skebäck a reality,” says Camilla Petersen, CEO at Länsgården.

The project comprises a new block consisting of a healthcare center and residential care facility that are being constructed in Skebäck, in eastern Örebro. In the design, considerable consideration has been given to the surroundings given the proximity to Stadsparken (the city park) and the older city area in Wadköping.

The project is being carried out in two phases. Phase one will cover a three-story healthcare center with an underground garage with 50 spaces. The building will encompass about 9,000 square meters.

In the second phase, the current healthcare center will be demolished and a residential care facility of about 10,000 square meters with 100 apartments will subsequently be constructed. The building will also have premises for day rehabilitation and home care and a large green courtyard.

The buildings are being constructed in accordance with Sweden Green Building Council Silver level, placing stringent requirements on energy efficiency, good ventilation and sound material choices.

“NCC has substantial expertise in building healthcare premises and residential care facilities; most recently we completed work on Örebro University Hospital and a new residential care facility in Bettorp, also in Örebro. We look forward to creating new and modern healthcare facilities that meet the needs of the patients and staff as well as the residents and visitors in the beautiful environment around Stadsparken,” says Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.

Preparatory work will begin in January 2022. It is estimated that the healthcare center will be relocated to the new premises at the end of 2023. The entire project is expected to be completed in 2025.

The assignment is a turnkey contract and the order value of about SEK 350 million will be registered during the first quarter of 2022 in the NCC Building Sweden business area.
