NCC Construction Norway has been commissioned to build a road tunnel stretching approximately 2.5 kilometers in the Hordaland region, located southeast of Bergen in Norway. The assignment also includes the construction of 3.6 kilometers of road, a footpath and bicycle path, bridges and water, sewer, electricity and phone systems. The order is valued at approximately SEK 440 million and will be registered in the fourth quarter of 2011.

The main feature of the project is the Vang Tunnel, an important component of the expansion of the E16 highway between Oslo and Bergen.

“Traffic from Oslo to Bergen will be routed past central Voss. In total, about 4,000 vehicles will pass through the tunnel on daily basis,” says Knut Liavaag, District Manager at NCC Construction Norway.

The project is part of an ongoing effort to improve the road system between Oslo and Bergen. NCC Construction Norway has already participated in the first stage of this work with the project to build the Dalsfjord Link.

Construction will commence in November 2011 and is scheduled for completion in December 2013.
