NCC to construct sections of West Coast Railway for SEK 100 M

NCC to construct sections of West Coast Railway for SEK 110 M NCC Civil Engineering has signed a contract with the National Rail Administration covering construction of Block 4, sections 14 and 15 of the West Coast Railway. The contract involves ground and structure work for about six kilometers of double-track railway, rebuilding of a station area and eight bridges along the stretch of railway. The contract is valued at about SEK 110 M. The project will start immediately. The ground and structure work must be completed for laying of the track bed and railway construction work by January 31, 2000. The project will employ about 50 persons. The West Coast Railway is the new double track between Göteborg and Malmö. When the entire West Coast Railway is rebuilt and extended, the travel time between Göteborg and Malmö from the current 3.5 to 4 hours to about 2 hours.
