NCC Construction has been commissioned to construct a station at Hyllie for the City Tunnel in Malmö. The client is City Tunnel Project and the contract is worth SEK 225 million.

The new station will be built to the southeast of the Hyllie water tower and the project will comprise the construction of two 320-meter-long platforms and a concrete overdecking, which will consist of two bridges and space for a marketplace. The contract also includes landscaping and water and sewage works. The station will be of importance to the City of Malmö and will be at the center of the new development of the planned city district of Hyllievång. Planning of the station has been conducted in very close cooperation with the City of Malmö. Construction will commence in January 2006 and is scheduled for completion during January 2008. Approximately 10-15 administrative employees and some 40 construction and civil engineering workers will be engaged in the project. The City Tunnel will consist of a 17-kilometer-long railway that will connect central Malmö with the Öresund Link, and will also link up the railway network in the province of Skåne and increase the future capacity for railway traffic. Tunnels under central Malmö will account for six kilometers of the project, while 11 kilometers of railway will be above ground. NCC has already been awarded two of three assignments for the City Tunnel, namely Malmö Central Lower and landscaping and construction work at Hyllie-Vintrie. Including the contract to construct the station in Hyllie, NCC has secured orders worth slightly more than SEK 1.7 billion for the City Tunnel project.
