NCC is partnering with SSAB to construct a production hall for an electric arc furnace, a service hall, a distribution and power station, and an operator cabin.

The initial ground and foundation engineering work was completed in spring 2024. Work is now progressing to the next production phase with frame assembly, shell completion and associated building and installation works for a finished facility. The project will be handed over in stages and is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026.

“SSAB Oxelösund’s transition to fossil-free steelmaking is an historic project, and we are glad to be a part of developing and building the new facility that is so important for Sweden’s green industrial transition,” says Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.

The contract amount is approximately SEK 400 million and the order will be registered in the NCC Building Sweden business area in the third quarter of 2024.
