NCC to expand dry dock in Bergen for SEK 178 million

NCC Construction AS in Norway has been commissioned to expand the “Fjelldokken” dry dock at the Haakonsvern Naval Base in Bergen, Norway. The client is Forsvarsbygg Sør og Vestlandet and the order is valued at nearly SEK 178 million.

Work will commence on March 1 and is scheduled for completion during January 2008. A total of 325,000 cubic meters of solid rock and 4,000 – 5,000 cubic meters of reinforced concrete will be blasted away during the first year of construction. During the second year, reconstruction of the dry dock will start, which will require 6,000 cubic meters of concrete structures and include securing the mountain, installing equipment and completing the dry dock. At full production, 40 – 50 employees will be engaged in the project. NCC has extensive and long-term experience of civil engineering projects at the Haakonsvern Naval Base and has a track record of construction of, for example, halls, quays and fortification installations.
