NCC has been commissioned by the Swedish Transport Administration to construct a six-kilometer stretch of 2+1 road and highway south of Kalmar. The order is worth SEK 260 million.

The new section of the E22, past Rinkabyholm south of Kalmar, is part of the expansion of the stretch of road between Karlskrona and Kalmar.

“The new road will enhance traffic safety and improve living conditions for residents along the current route,” says Svante Hagman, Business Area Manager, NCC Construction Sweden.

The assignment includes the construction of a new 2+1 road scheme and the conversion of the current 2+1 road into a highway.

Connected to the road, NCC will also construct 11 new bridges and three interchanges, in addition to relaying nearly two kilometers of municipal water and wastewater pipes.

Work will commence immediately and the road is expected to be completed and ready to be opened to traffic in summer 2018. The order will be registered during the second quarter of 2015 in the NCC Construction Sweden business area.
