NCC Construction has received an assignment from Älvstranden Utveckling AB concerning the expansion of Lindholmen Science Park. The project will be implemented in direct connection with the Navet property, which was built by NCC between 2001 and 2003. The order value is SEK 400 million and the project will be conducted on a partnering basis.

In 2003, Navet was opened as a meeting place in Lindholmen Science Park, the most dynamic part of one of Europe’s largest town-building projects – Norra Älvstranden in Gothenburg.

Several of the world’s leading technology companies have established activities in the area and demand for offices, conference space, restaurants and other facilities has resulted in the need for expansion there. The two buildings will be linked or integrated by a roof across the pedestrian street that will be constructed.

The premises that will be erected include Lindholmen Science Park Open Arena, a world-class research center. The new construction project comprises a total of approximately 21,100 square meters of space on floors one to six and approximately 5,400 square meters on the two basement levels.

“We are happy that the project has now been finalized and purchased,” says Mats Andersson, President of Älvstranden Utveckling AB. “With the new building, we can offer innovative and creative new companies the opportunity to establish activities in the Lindholmen Science Park, which will generate new business and exciting innovations. This will contribute to continued growth in Gothenburg.”

Partnering is a structured cooperation format applied in the construction industry, whereby the developer, consultants and contractors jointly resolve construction assignments through open and trusting cooperation in which each party contributes complementary professional knowledge throughout all stages of the project.

Planning will commence immediately and the property will be completed in June 2010. The project will employ a total of approximately 100 persons.

Order registration will occur during the fourth quarter of 2007.
