NCC Construction has been commissioned by Steen & Ström Sverige AB to modernize the Sollentuna Centrum shopping center in Stockholm, Sweden. The order is worth approximately SEK 1.1 billion and will be conducted as a partnering project.

The project has already begun in the form of preparatory work and the order pertains to the main contract. When the entire expansion is complete in spring 2010, Sollentuna Centrum will be one of the country’s largest and most modern shopping centers, with around 140 stores – double the number of shops in the center today.

In total, the project will comprise approximately 100,000 square meters of floor space, of which 15,000 square meters will comprise newly built retail space and 30,000 square meters will comprise the refurbished space in the existing center. Including a parking garage with 1,600 parking spaces, the order value totals approximately SEK 1.1 billion.

The project is expected to employ an average of 200 people during the construction period.

On December 30, 2005 NCC sold the properties Centrum 4 and Centrum 14 in Sollentuna Centrum to the Scandinavian shopping-center developer Steen & Ström. Following the formulation of detailed development plans, it has been possible to initiate work on the modernization and expansion of Sollentuna Centrum.

Partnering is a structured cooperation format applied in the construction industry, whereby the developer, consultants and contractors jointly resolve construction assignments through open and trusting cooperation in which each party contributes complementary professional knowledge throughout all stages of the project.

Order registration will take place in the fourth quarter of 2007.
