NCC to rebuild former Svea Life Guard premises in Stockholm for SEK 145 million NCC has received an order to rebuild the former premises of the Svea Life Guards in Stockholm. The value of this turnkey contract is SEK 145 million. The Svea Life Guards' former barracks, which are located in the Garnisonen property block in Stockholm, were originally completed in 1886. The buildings received their current appearance in 1906. Today, the building facades are classified as being of architectural importance. Since the mid-1960s, the premises have been leased to the National Board of Health and Welfare, which vacated them during last summer. The buildings are now to be refurbished and adapted to the needs of the new tenant, SIFO. The project involves the remodeling of four four-story building sections. A total of 700 persons will work in the new premises. The buildings will be equipped with interior staircases and new elevators will be installed in all of the buildings. This will require sophisticated concreting work and explosive demolition of existing cold walls in the basement. The construction period is extremely short, with occupancy starting in June next year. Approximately 60 skilled workers will be involved in construction activities. For further information, please contact Per Lind, Business Manager at NCC Building, Stockholm (Tel: +46-8782 00 00).
