NCC to refurbish and expand the Harju Campus in Finland
NCC is to refurbish and expand the Harju Campus in Finland on behalf of the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium. The order is worth SEK 270 million.
“We are pleased to have been entrusted with the task of implementing this school project, which is so important for the City of Jyväskylä. During the two and a half years duration of the project, about 70 individuals will be employed,” says Raimo Pesola, Regional Manager at NCC Construction Finland.
NCC is to refurbish two of the school buildings in the campus area and construct a new indoor sporting facility. Initially, the indoor sporting facility and the building intended for use as a high school will be constructed. In the next phase, the building that is currently being used for vocational education in sales, administration and graphic design will be refurbished.
“At present, NCC has several school projects in progress in Finland. We will be able to benefit greatly from our knowledge and experience from these other projects. The objective is to create safe and secure campus areas, with particular focus on flexible solutions that will extend the useful life of the buildings,” says Harri Savolainen, Business Area Manager of NCC Construction Finland.
Construction is scheduled to commence in April 2015. The campus area will be ready for use in November 2017. The order will be registered during the second quarter of 2015 in the NCC Construction Finland business area.
