NCC Construction Denmark is to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment of the Glostrup County Hospital in Denmark up to 2009. The assignment will be conducted in the form of a partnering project and the contract is worth approximately SEK 204 million. Throughout the construction period, the hospital will care for the same number of patients as usual.

Starting at the beginning of next year, NCC is to upgrade the two main treatment buildings at the Glostrup County Hospital. The assignment from the county of Copenhagen entails the refurbishment of operating theaters, the in-patient surgery department, the emergency unit and the diagnostic center for radiology and clinical physiology. The hospital was built in the 1950s and currently requires comprehensive refurbishment. NCC was awarded the contract following an EU procurement process. The assignment to refurbish the two buildings, with combined floor space of 13,000 square meters, is part of a total modernization program estimated at nearly SEK 880 million. The Glostrup County Hospital will continue to treat the same number of patients throughout the construction period, which requires that construction, which is scheduled for completion in 2009, be divided into phases, to enable the hospital to uphold the necessary treatment capacity. NCC Partnering: NCC Partnering is the name of NCC’s cooperative format for providing an improved and more cost-effective construction process. It entails that all of the parties to a construction project operate on an open-books basis in terms of their costs and offers all of the parties incentives to reduce construction costs and thus to share the gains.
