NCC to refurbish housing units in Denmark for SEK 1 billion

NCC has won its single largest refurbishment project in Denmark to date, with a new phase of the refurbishment of row houses in the Albertslund Syd residential district for Bo-Vest. Worth approximately SEK 1 billion, the contract encompasses 503 row houses and extends for just over three years beginning in February 2020.

NCC refurbished 493 row houses in an earlier phase, which was completed after three years in the summer of 2019 – six months ahead of schedule. Through effective collaboration and strong planning, it was possible to complete five housing units per week – without compromising on either quality or safety – toward the end of the project. The refurbishment improved the energy performance of the houses, which were built in the 1960s, and gave them a modern standard. The project gave the entire district a clear boost in quality.

“We’re bringing the positive experiences gained in the initial project with us so that we can work as efficiently as possible with the best quality possible,” says Dennis Nielsen, Director of NCC Refurbishment. “With the same organization as the initial project, we can ensure that our broad expertise of the area can be turned into a high level of productivity.”

Albertslund Boligselskab afd. 3702 syd, a part of BO-VEST, is the company behind the project.

“We are very much looking forward to a lengthy collaboration with NCC on our largest refurbishment project to date, in Bo-Vest. Of course, we expect we can jointly benefit from the experiences in the neighboring area by having the same organization in place at our adviser, construction company and developer, and we would naturally be very happy if NCC were to finish once again ahead of schedule,” says Peter Føhrby Nybom, Senior Project Manager at Bo-Vest.

The work will begin in late February 2020 and completion is expected in July 2023. The contract is worth SEK 982 million, with the option of a conditional supplementary contract of a further SEK 90 million over the same period. The project will be registered in the order book during the first quarter of 2020 in the NCC Building Nordics business area.
