NCC to refurbish Nummi School in Turku
NCC has been commissioned by the City of Turku to refurbish Nummi School in Turku. The school encompasses a total of 7,000 square meters and the contract is valued at approximately SEK 180 million.
The school building will be completely refurbished, and all technical installations will be replaced to meet modern requirements. The premises will receive new finishes and be adapted for people with accessibility needs. In addition, the nearby Katariina School’s sound and locking systems will be renewed as will the school’s surveillance and fire alarm systems.
Nummi School is a listed building and is comprised of three sections built in 1931, 1937 and 1990.
“We are bringing together our accumulated experience of school construction and careful refurbishment to Nummi, which will be our third school project in the Turku region,” says Esa Lehmusvuori, Department Manager, NCC Building Nordics in Western Finland.
The parties have been working together for some time in a development phase to prepare construction documents for the project, which is now ready for implementation and work will start immediately. The refurbishment is scheduled to be completed by summer 2025.
The order of approximately SEK 180 million will be registered in the second quarter of 2023 in the NCC Building Nordics business area.
