“We want to upgrade the Ruoholahti district and make it into one of Helsinki’s most attractive areas. We are pleased to be able to start construction of this modern and sustainable office building,” says Petri Bergström, head of NCC Property Development in Finland.
Ruoholahti is a business district where approximately 19,000 people work and about 20 percent of Helsinki’s head offices are located. NCC has been planning the We Land concept in cooperation with the City of Helsinki, the architect firm JKMM Architects and companies and tenants in the area. One of the future tenants of We Land is Deloitte, which will relocate its Finnish headquarters to the area once complete in 2023. The letting ratio is currently at 29 percent.
We Land will have 14 floors above ground and three floors below, with 18,000 square meters of office space, 1,700 square meters for catering services, 190 parking spaces (all with charging facilities) and 450 bike parking spaces. The office building is located next to the rapidly growing Jätkäsaari area and the city’s international West Harbour Länsisatama.
The building is designed with the ambition to meet the highest possible BREEAM rating of Outstanding, the first of its kind for NCC in Finland and one of the first such buildings in the country. BREEAM Outstanding in construction is rare, even internationally. The design, material choices, services, communications and operation of We Land are all in line with the ‘As green as possible’ principle.
The project will be registered in the Building Nordics business area in the fourth quarter of 2020.
