New President of NCC Civil Engineering

New President of NCC Civil Engineering Per Nielsen, MSc. Eng., age 51, has been appointed the new President of NCC Civil Engineering, effective July 1, 2000. The Civil Engineering business area is responsible for the NCC Group's roadwork and civil engineering operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Poland, as well as international project activities. NCC Civil Engineering has annual sales of slightly more than SEK 12 billion, with approximately 8,000 employees. In 1976, after completing his engineering degree at the Royal College of Technology in Stockholm in 1974, Per Nielsen was appointed local manager at what was then Nya Asfalt AB. Up to 1992, Per held a number of positions within the NCC Group - as a cost accountant, plant manager and divisional manager in building construction, highway construction and civil engineering operations. In 1992, Per was appointed divisional manager of the Stockholm Division in what was then NCC Construction. When NCC's new organization based on business areas was introduced in 1994, Per became Vice President in charge of large-scale civil engineering projects in the Nordic region, a position which he held until 1997, when he was appointed project manager for the Öresund Tunnel Contractors in Copenhagen. In 1999, Per took over as President of NCC International. The current President of the Civil Engineering business area, Lars Wuopio, who is also Executive Vice President of the NCC Group, recently reached the age of 61.
