Nobina has secured a new contract, valued at more than EUR 127 million, from HSL to operate and develop city transport services in Helsinki and Vantaa. The contract is a further initiative to offer sustainable public transport services and includes the first electric articulated buses in the Helsinki region. The contract extends for a total of seven years with an option to extend for three additional years.

Nobina already has well-established operations in the Helsinki region and several contracts with HSL. HSL and Nobina are working together to create sustainable and attractive public transport services. The new contract will expand services by a total of 68 scheduled buses, of which 58 will operate solely on electricity. These include 40 electric articulated buses, which will be the first of their kind to operate in the Helsinki region.

We are delighted that HSL, with its clear focus on the environment and sustainability, has given us this opportunity to jointly continue to operate and develop public transport services that meet the needs of society,” says Petri Auno, Managing Director Nobina Oy.

Services are scheduled to start in August 2021.

The award decision can be appealed until 16 July 2020.
