Stein Nilsen – new Managing Director at Nobina Norge

Stein Nilsen has been appointed the new Managing Director of Nobina Norge. With solid experience in senior positions in the transport sector in Scandinavia, he will be a strong addition to the Nobina group of companies. Stein Nilsen Comes directly from NSB where he was Senior Manager heading up NSB Persontog.

Stein Nilsen will take up the position as Managing Director for Nobina in Norway on 1 December 2010. He comes directly from NSB Persontog, the equivalent of SJ in Sweden. Prior to this, he worked at SAS for 20 years, his last position being head of air transportation for the group’s operations in Norway.

Commenting on the appointment, Jan Bosaeus, Deputy Managing Director of Nobina AB and head of the Nobina group’s Regional Business Division said:
“With his long experience of the Scandinavian transport sector, Stein is uniquely competent and has what it takes to develop the Norwegian business. Our ambition is to become the leader in Nordic public transportation by bus and we are very pleased to have him on board to lead us in our journey on the Norwegian market.”

Nobina, a leader in public transportation by bus in Scandinavia, is responsible for approximately 260 million journeys every year. Business operations include operations on contract for regional traffic in Scandinavia as well as inter-regional traffic. The Norwegian market for public transportation by bus is, in relative terms, bigger than that in Sweden and is undergoing change.

Stein Nilsen, Managing Director Nobina Norge, says that “Nobina is preparing to take an active part in the on-going trend towards a greater share of publicly tendered contracts. I look forward to leading the work in a market with great development potential.”

The Nobina group of companies is Scandinavia’s biggest actor within public transportation by bus whose business idea is to simplify everyday travelling. Business operations include regional operations on contract in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark as well as inter-regional traffic under separate management of the subsidiary Swebus.
