    Nobina secures HSL tenders for about SEK 1.2 billion

    Nobina has again been entrusted by HSL to operate and develop bus services in the Helsinki region. The total value of the six contracts is estimated at SEK 1.2 billion over the contract periods, which are seven years and one year, respectively, with the option to extend by three years.     Nobina has been entrusted once more to operate bus services in Ale. The total value of the contracts is estimated at about SEK 500 million over the contract period, which is ten years.     10,000 passengers have tried autonomous bus service

    Already 10,000 passengers and 2,000 kilometres in traffic. The first three months of Scandinavia’s first project involving autonomous vehicles on public roads has been a success and provided valuable experience.The aim of the Autopiloten project is to accumulate knowledge about how autonomous technology can play a part in the development of public transport. It should be possible to use the type of bus being tested as a complement to other public transport. It could open for truly door-to-door solutions that link the journey together and make public transport as a whole more attractive.

    Troms Fylkestrafikk and Nobina Norway in agreement not to utilise full extension option

    Troms Fylkestrafikk has decided not to utilise the full extension option with Nobina Norway for bus services in Tromsö. The extension that could have stretched to a maximum of three years will thus be one and a half years. The extension will come into force in February 2018 and services will be operated by Nobina until 31 July 2019.     Region Skåne and Malmö city say yes to electric buses

    Yesterday, the final political decisions were taken on comprehensive solutions for switching to electric buses on routes 3 and 7 in Malmö, Sweden. The decisions set in place conditions for Skånetrafiken and Nobina to reach agreement regarding the transition to electric buses.The public transport board in Region Skåne estimates the annual costs for both of the bus routes at approximately SEK 90 million.     During the spring and summer, Nobina will take delivery of 138 new buses as a result of traffic contracts that commence in 2017. The buses will enter into traffic successively from April until August 2017.  The percentage of Nobina’s bus fleet operating on renewable fuel will thus increase from 55 to more than 72 per cent as of 31 August.
