The parent company Network of Design (NOD), which was founded in 2020 with the ambition of establishing a leading network for ambitious Scandinavian producers of design products, has acquired a majority of its seventh company, Byarums Bruk. The Group already includes the successful companies: String Furniture, Photowall, Cooee Design, Kid’s Concept, Wall of Art and Norling Studio.

The venerable Byarums Bruk, which was founded in Småland in 1947, has become especially well-known for its sustainable sandcast aluminum sofas for public environments such as streets and squares, parks and golf courses. The sofas and other aluminum products such as tables, benches, chairs and planters are designed to hold up to outdoor use year-round for decades, and when a product’s job is one day over, the material is melted down and emerges in a new form – in a cycle that can be repeated generation after generation. In 2021, Byarums’ foundry had sales of just over SEK 30 million with solid profitability.

“As we continue our growth journey in quality Scandinavian design, Byarums Bruk will strengthen our product portfolio with its iconic brand and stylish product range," says NOD’s CEO, Therese Hillman. “We have great ambitions in terms of collaborations and synergies between our companies, especially in digitalisation and international growth, and we already see that the network model is bearing fruit. Our dialogue with Byarums Bruk came about through another entrepreneur, and it is extremely gratifying that these strong Scandinavian companies see the potential in our business model.”

“NOD’s network strategy and the competence of the other companies in the group are a completely unique combination,” says Joakim Ståhl, CEO of Byarums Bruk. “Demand for our sustainable products for outdoor environments is increasing as green areas become an increasingly important factor in the choice of housing and new establishments. Thanks to NOD’s business model, we will be able to meet this demand and at the same time gear up our B2C and export business alongside the other companies. Quality products with high design value and long lifecycles are highly valued and we see a very bright future with NOD.”

NOD sees continued interest among others design brands to join the network. The main growth for NOD is a combination of new acquisitions and from the organic growth seen in all the Group's companies, driven by both online and international sales growth.
