Nokian Tyres ranks in top 1% of EcoVadis sustainability assessment for the second consecutive year
Nokian Tyres plc Press Release October 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. EEST
For the second consecutive year, Nokian Tyres has been awarded a Platinum Medal in the EcoVadis corporate sustainability assessment. The rating means that the company is in the top one percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis in the past 12 months. Nokian Tyres earned 84 points in the assessment, which is 5 more than last year. Nokian Tyres’ top-performing assessment areas were Environment and Sustainable Procurement, both achieving a score of 90/100.
“We work to drive sustainability not just in Nokian Tyres’ own operations but also in our supply chain, which shows in the improved score in the area Sustainable Procurement. Requiring a commitment to ethical business and sustainability from suppliers promotes both environmental and social responsibility in the supply chain, which in turn creates value for the environment and communities, and eventually also for our customers,” says Teppo Huovila, Vice President, Quality and Sustainability at Nokian Tyres.
EcoVadis is one of the world’s largest and most trusted providers of corporate sustainability ratings, having assessed over 130,000 companies globally. The assessment of companies’ sustainability performance is based on several criteria across four core areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
The rating demonstrates Nokian Tyres’ commitment to sustainability. In addition to the Platinum Medal awarded by EcoVadis, Nokian Tyres has achieved, for example, several inclusions in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices and four consecutive A- scores in the CDP Climate Change report.
