NOMOS wins iF Award for slender elegance
Slender and elegant, even with its automatic caliber—and now award-winning: Tangente neomatik 39 platinum gray. The sleek and beautiful stainless steel case of the Glashütte watch takes the shape of a coin.
GLASHÜTTE, MAY 2023. It is one of the biggest award events and the oldest design prize in Germany: the prestigious iF Design Award has been presented once a year since 1954 by the world’s oldest independent design institution, iF International Forum Design GmbH. This year, the jury crowned Tangente neomatik platinum gray by NOMOS Glashütte: an elegant automatic watch full of technical finesse. Its proprietary neomatik DUW 3001 movement fits into the slim steel case of the Tangente, allowing for the best proportions: the caliber has a height of just 3.2 millimeters.
The bidirectional winding rotor winds itself as the arm moves. The NOMOS swing system inside the watch guarantees accuracy. Uwe Ahrendt, CEO of NOMOS Glashütte: “The platinum gray of the dial underscores the value of this timepiece. And the fact that Tangente is so elegant and flat, even with an automatic caliber, is of course a NOMOS specialty; a unique watch straight out of a picture book.”
It was also the shape of this watch in particular that clinched it for the 133 members of the jury and won the award: The jurors had to choose from 10,544 products from 56 nations. At the time of the award announcement, there is already a “partner watch” for this successful Tangente: in addition to platinum gray, NOMOS Glashütte now also manufactures Tangente neomatik with a blue gold dial, expanding its successful line of elegant dress watches.
