Nordea stands by Ukraine
Nordea supports the people in Ukraine and is taking action to help with international relief and aid efforts.
“The war in Ukraine fills me with deep sadness. Nordea condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, particularly in view of the threat it poses to international security and the way it is affecting people’s lives. Our thoughts are with all who are suffering, fearing for their lives and worried for their loved ones,” says President and Group CEO Frank Vang-Jensen.
Nordea is donating EUR 500,000 in total: EUR 250,000 to UNICEF and EUR 250,000 to the Red Cross to support their relief efforts in Ukraine and impacted countries. Nordea will also waive all transaction fees until further notice for household and business customers’ donations to charities engaged in emergency response actions in Ukraine and regions affected by the war.
Nordea is also organising a collection to gather essential items to be delivered to families in need via the Polish Red Cross. The collection will be run from Nordea’s premises in Poland and is part of Nordea’s employee volunteering programme.
As communicated earlier this week, Nordea Asset Management has decided to exclude all Russian investments, including government bonds, equities and bonds. Nordea complies with applicable sanctions, laws and regulations.
“We are standing by our employees, customers and broader society at this difficult time,” says Frank Vang-Jensen.
