Nordec has extensive experience in design, manufacturing, and installation of large-scale projects.
Nordec will participate in the guidance of the main building's steel structure design in collaboration with the main contractor SRV and Unitas (AFRY, A-Insinöörit).
According to preliminary plans, Nordec's scope of delivery will include the manufacturing, delivery, and installation of the main building's steel frame structure, installation of concrete elements including joint casting, as well as the delivery and installation of the steel structure for the HVAC space. The main building will mainly consist of 8 floors and have a total floor area of over 90,000 m2.
The plans and scope will be specified in separate orders as the project transitions from the development phase to the implementation phase in autumn 2023. According to the current plans, Nordec's on-site installation work will commence in early 2024.
Ossi Inkilä, Project Manager of the Laakso Joint Hospital Alliance, on the collaboration:
"Nordec's decades of experience in significant steel structure design, manufacturing, and implementation are well known to SRV through several previous joint projects. It is fantastic to work with a reliable partner in such a landmark project that will serve the entire Helsinki metropolitan area in the future. Both parties also share a common view on the importance of safety, quality, and schedule as we move towards the implementation phase."
